Supercar Killing '81 Honda Accord
We all know the 1981 Honda Accord by modern day standards is not exactly up to scratch.
It may still be vaguely comfortable but as far as being economical or speedy, it was never either of those.
That's exactly what the owner of this Accord thought, and wanted to improve those two points drastically. And when I say drastically, I really, really mean it.
The chassis got stuffed with a Tesla rear end (Motors and Subframe) which was salvaged from a wreck. The center of the car was now home to a Battery pack from a Chevrolet Volt which sits where the center tunnel usually is. The chassis and frame of the Teslonda were strengthened not only to hold the modern heavy components but to stop the cars sheer torque from ripping the body of the car apart like a tin can.
Whats the outcome? Well, 0-60mph in 2.7 seconds, Over 500bhp and due to the striping of the interior the car wasn't actually that much heavier. Micky Thomson street legal racing tyres were added all around to get the immense torque to the floor. For comparison the $2.3 Million Koenissegg CCX R Special Edition is a 2.9 second car to 60mph.
Head over to @ProjectOwnersClub to see a video of it accelerating like a F1 Car, sounding like something out of the Jetson's and looking like a JDM/ Gasser Hot Rod hybrid.
All around this is a fantastic project car, and with the introduction of the amazing electric cars in recent years, there is sure to be an influx of crazy restomod projects like this using Tesla drivetrains and I can't wait to see more, or even own one.
